1 — Acceptance

By accessing or using Boots and Bearings ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform. These terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access the Platform.

2 — What Boots and Bearings Is

Boots and Bearings is an informational platform designed to help transitioning service members and veteran transition professionals navigate career, healthcare, education, and community resources. It is not a licensed employment agency, healthcare provider, financial advisor, or legal counsel. Information provided is for general guidance only and should not be relied upon as professional advice.

3 — Not Affiliated With the Government

Boots and Bearings is a private, independently operated platform. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the U.S. Department of Defense, the Department of Veterans Affairs, any branch of the Armed Forces, or any other government agency. Where we describe benefits, programs, or eligibility, we are summarizing publicly available information and linking to the responsible agency. The agency's own guidance always controls, and only that agency can determine your eligibility.

4 — Use Restrictions

You agree not to:

Scrape, copy, or redistribute any data, content, or API responses from the Platform without written permission
Use the Platform for commercial gain or resale without authorization
Attempt to reverse-engineer, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to any part of the service
Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information
Use the Platform in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations

5 — Third-Party Data

The Platform surfaces data from third-party sources including the Bureau of Labor Statistics, O*NET, the DoD SkillBridge program, IRS 990 records, and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Boots and Bearings does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of this data. Wage estimates, program listings, and organization information may change without notice.

6 — No Warranties

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Use the Platform at your own risk.

7 — Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Boots and Bearings and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Platform — including decisions made based on career recommendations, wage data, or program information.

8 — Ratings, Rankings and Community Contributions

Boots and Bearings publishes scores, rankings and directory listings covering employers, employer resource groups, nonprofit organizations, and geographic areas. Please read the following carefully:

Scores and rankings are statements of opinion, reached by applying a published methodology to publicly available data. They are not statements of verified fact about any organization, and they are not an accusation of wrongdoing.
Underlying inputs come from third-party sources — including IRS Form 990 filings, the DoD SkillBridge directory, and federal statistical data — which may be incomplete, out of date, or themselves in error.
Some ratings are contributed by users, including veterans reporting on their own employers. Those reflect the views of the individuals who submitted them, not of Boots and Bearings, and we do not independently verify every submission.
An organization that believes a rating, listing, or underlying datum about it is inaccurate may contact us at admin@bootsbearings.com. We will review the matter promptly, correct anything we find to be wrong, and publish a response alongside the entry where that is appropriate.

9 — Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Boots and Bearings and its operators from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Platform, your breach of these Terms, or any content you submit to the Platform.

10 — Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [STATE], without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in [STATE].
